I enjoy the fact that this attempt at lauding Mark Zuckerberg for his grit mainly gives examples of him firing anyone who disagrees with him. I feel like success in the social media space has been more about luck even than is usual in tech. I mean, sure, you can pinpoint why some networks /failed/ but even in hindsight, it's almost impossible to see why facebook succeeded.

when facebook was getting started, I actually had a co-lo customer who was doing "Myspace, but for bands" - I mean, my point is that after myspace showed that this was going to be big, everyone wanted to take a shot, and taking a shot was cheap and easy.
