Zuckerberg has been comically all over the map. First privacy was no longer a social norm, then he had a kid and privacy came back. He promised to cure all disease, announced a new currency, said everything would now be encrypted (but not just yet). No pivot was too ridiculous.

Regrettably, most people who write about Facebook write about each one of these zigzags in isolation, not as part of a pattern of derp. They analyze them like grandmaster chess moves when it's just Zuckerberg veering around the empty parking lot of his mind, searching for an exit
