In 1960 you had a strong basis to believe we were heading for routine space travel, the eradication of disease, and either world government or nuclear war. How none of these came to pass and we got Pepe memes instead is a testament to the power of the future to remain surprising

I'm a reasonable person. Life is complicated. Lots of good things are distorted terribly by any profit motive. People respond to various incentives. Capitalism tends to pathological outcomes, like any single-minded approach. Diversity is strength.

On the other hand, sometimes people won't do what they need to unless you reward them. A lot of people are basically selfish and mercenary. But not all of them, and not all the time. But capitalist society tends to force people into that attitude, which is effing bad.

"since I think capitalism regulated to within an inch of its life" Capitalism inherently destroys regulation, and is exploitative and destructive even with it. You can't regulate capitalism into a fair or virtuous system - it is inherently evil.
