I think you mentioned in your piece, but the internet is an old technology (about as old now as color TV was when www was launched) so there’s a vague feeling that we’re due another shift. -
It just broadly feels that there’s a lot of pent up energy and that it has to find an avenue of expression somewhere. That may be illusory/unjustified optimism though, because when you speak to people at the cutting edge of a particular sector that belief isn’t really there.
