It's super interesting that transatlantic flight is slower in 2020 than it was in 1960. Approximately 0/100 people would have predicted this at the start of the Jet Age, just like none of us thought in 2000 we'd end up using slower computers with less memoryhttps://twitter.com/jonostrower/status/1401586209873305602 …

Jesus christ, that is the shittiest argument I have ever heard. Like, it literally got developed in SPITE of capitalism because it was so multidimensional in its research. Corpos DESPISE working together because it fucks up their "trade secret" bullshit.

Capitalism doesn’t develop things. It’s a system of monetary exchange that has outlasted its usefulness. It’s the people who do, and they’d still exist without capitalism.

It is absolutely a massive failure of capitalism that the recent breakthrough in mRNA vaccines came out of emergency public funding. Trillions in private capital investments have failed to produce anything as useful.
-
I can't help thinking that the private investments yielded -plenty- but just never had the opportunity to exploit the circumstances (at least not yet)
