The thing I really enjoy about non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and "smart contracts" more broadly is that there's no way to get them to point to information or objects outside the blockchain without introducing a trusted third party, the whole thing you set up a blockchain to avoid.

Same no. Doesn't make it less decentralized. The problem is most people look at nakamoto models when they talk about this stuff and then they struggle with the fact that safety is not guaranteed in the heaviest chain consensus model. Because of that... cont'd

You're either relying on classical consensus which has its own set of problems and that it is limited in the number of nodes, or you are depending on using old data from the slower nakamoto model of another chain. Well the third option of course is centralization... cont'd
