"Miscommunicated" implies that they sent erroneous messages. They may have, but mostly they failed to account for the media through which their messages were communicated or the audience(s) they wished to persuade. Their theory of persuasion was at least 100 years out of date.

Yes, but people fuck up, sometimes even in areas where they are skilled. Dealing with that in an OK way is really, really important. I think at least some of the current problem is that they didn't communicate their error clearly enough.

I'm just saying, there's a big difference in outcome between being wrong and pretending you were right, and being wrong and then loudly explaining that you were wrong and how to fix the situation.
