Having to move on from the January 6 riot will be a blessing in disguise for Democrats. The problem is a bifurcated public sphere where half the electorate inhabits a disjoint reality. The idea that elaborate hearings will get through to them has been repeatedly discredited

Compromise idea: have the Capitol riot investigation, but put Mueller in charge of it

It’s time for Dems to line up behind issues that affect people’s lives, such as Russian interference, how we haven’t yet tested whether the scientific method works and so we’re going to need to keep masking until we can figure that out, and reversing the policies at Basecamp.

It’s not as much as about their votes as it is having a proper accounting of what and how it happened, though I have little confidence we’ll even really get that, honestly.

What if they also tell them that they are the problem with America?

Which is why 35 republicans voted for it. Naw, you’re off on this one. It’s got legs.

Because January 6 was totally a sign of a healthy and functioning democracy, sure. Letting this slide is an absolute guarantee that it will happen again.

I think it's important to win future elections

That also applies to the opposition in Poland, unfortunately.

Respectfully... no. There HAS to be accountability. "Moving on" sends the message that there are no consequences for this. And, let's be real: Jan. 6 was stoked by white supremacy. Had it been a BLM protest, capitol police would have used gas, "rubber" bullets, dogs, etc.

I'm not opposed to accountability, but I am absolutely for moving on politically, as a matter of necessity. As for the BLM argument, I agree. But remember that a woman was shot and killed by police at this protest! Imagine the outrage if that had happened in your scenario
