What happened to the Singularity, by the way? Is that still in the mix, or do I need to open a 401(k)?

Pretty much 50/50🎲 There's a 50% chance we're going to merge with machines and live forever as gods while converting all material in the universe into computational substrate. Or a 50% chance the global environment collapses, the oceans boil, and geopolitical turmoil ends us all

Should we assume you won't need an even larger 401(k) if the Singularity does happen? I mean, I know it eliminates rent and food, but can't rule out there are new costs we haven't thought of.

Yup, the returns will compound, people who can afford more RAM for their brains will make better investment decisions and they'll use the extra money to buy more RAM

Maybe when Ray Kurzweil predicted that exponential growth in computing capacity would lead to the Singularity, he forgot to account for chip shortages.

The singularity happened eons ago, and this is the reality the machines decided we’d be happiest in.

The singularity will only be happening on Mars now, we are not rich enough to be informed of further updates.
