This is my favorite kind of derptopianism. The total collapse of society will finally let us transition to a technology that requires ubiquitous connectivity, extraordinary power consumption, transnational high-tech supply chains, and can handle 10 transactions a minute. https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1392190984910360576 …

In fairness to
@balajis, I have to concede his point that crypto doesn't require the internet. Bitcoin has an adaptive difficulty parameter that (after the bombs fall) will drop until it becomes profitable to hash with goose quills by candlelight https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1392197512568578048 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread -

You do realize these pools are powered by miners distributed all over the world I hope. Because it seems you think the headquarters of a pool is the actual location of the miner. This is a noob mistake.

That graphic is from 2020, check https://www.blockchain.com/charts/pools for a current distribution of pools. Also keep in mind that many miners worldwide still use Chinese pools, the hashrate is not purely from China.

this looks like good news tho, way less risky to do network based attacks on pools in china than in the west, thanks for the tip!
