I vividly remember my first impressions of Sesame Street: 1. This writing system makes zero sense 2. These kids are way older than me and they can't read. Americans must be pretty slow I respected Mr. Rogers, but Sesame Street gave me the confidence to scorn this country early.https://twitter.com/NPR/status/1391442676638179332 …

People are saying that Sesame Street is targeted at three year olds but... that wasn't my experience? Parents parked older kids in front of it. I have American friends who are all like "man, Snuffleupagus got me through freshman year"

It's because count Dracula is a Dracula and the way to stop and confuse them is to throw coins or something on the floor to be "counted".

I had a Russian professor for my Fluid Dynamics engineering class. First day of class he does this complicated derivative on the board, and then shouted “In Russia this is KINDERGARTEN MATH”

I used to hang out at a café that, for some reason, was well stocked with Soviet-era junior-high school math textbooks. Shocking to compare with what Canadian kids that age were taught.

"I had a tough time suspending reality with talking stuffed animals" Small kids look up to big kids...... which were the target audience.
