I’m certainly one of the hurlers on the ditch but as I understand the debate there are two intersecting problems - building/recruiting/changing on the ground and providing better information to the top to minimize screwups. The first _may_ be a little more readily solvable?

I like this^ formulation & it highlights the fact that it would be helpful even to get the "the top" to recognize that a stronger & more dispersed set of structures that channel the voices of those doing politics in different spaces would be *useful* as well as uncomfortable

Yeah it's the feedback loops there that make it a wicked problem. Why even bother running for water commissioner given that? But if no local Dems run for any office in such places, collapse accelerates. How to support local embers so they ID & work toward meaningful local target?
-
My experience was that there was no trouble finding great dems to run for local office, and they would even be told by neighbors that they loved them as individuals, but those people then voted as if it would be Nancy Pelosi sitting on the water board or city council or whatever
