It's just a thing where context/scale matters. Giant corporations rule by fiat and RSUs, can replace large chunks of their head count because no one expects that much from them. With <100 employees it's good to try to be an actual leader to these people you actually know

I can’t imagine that Basecamp wanted a third of their employees to take the offer any more than Google would. Even if the only lesson here is, “offer different severance terms”, I can’t imagine that Basecamp or other companies will be keen to repeat this experience

I propose we wait and see how Basecamp is doing six months from now. I suspect these kinds of policies will become universal as the activist group goes further off into loopiness
