The work culture at rich tech companies (people read something upsetting in the news and want to discuss and 'process' it on company time) is so alien from most people's experience of work that it makes me despair for ever finding common ground with the actual working class

These are hard asks for sure. But I don't think it's really a lack of effort as much as *strong* pushback on this either from companies themselves or VC board members for startups

Electricians don't fuck around with "Ok, so.. we REALLY don't want to get electrocuted! No, super really! That's our demand!" They ask for specific *actionable* changes in equipment and procedures, and the demand to be involved in the development of those requirements.

Tech workers could never come up with anything actionable. Plenty of targets, but nothing actionable.
