It makes no sense to spend hundreds of millions on the rocket and then skimp on the A/V. No excuse for potato image quality. Get one of those nice high-dynamic range jobs that all the realtors use (colonists will freak!). Maybe get an instagram influencer on the imaging team.

That first image is delivered quickly on a low bandwidth link: something like 0.5 Mbps, and alongside other much more critical telemetry data. It's an optimization. Better pictures come later and slower.
