Instructive here is how white nationalist Steve King got booted from his committee assignments. His own party did it, and they did it because he came within 10,000 votes of getting his ass kicked by @JDScholten in what was supposed to be one of the safest districts in Congress.

The expulsion is just as lawful if two thirds agree to expel. "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member."

Throwing out the Electoral College vote is also lawful, if a majority votes for it
