Looking for a todo list manager suggestion: - have Gmail Add-on (only reason I use G Tasks!) - Add to Tasks in Gmail must work - work on Android (and browser/macOS) - decent notifs, repeat, reminders, etc. - must not suck (unlike G Tasks—oh, Google!) Suggestions? Happy to pay $!

I've paid for http://rememberthemilk.com for a couple of years and can personally attest to everything but the first one, and internet claims it also has the first. Favorite feature is basic NLP when creating tasks to not need to use drop-downs.

Thanks! RTM does have a Gmail add-on, so I will investigate. Boy, I haven't used RTM since…what…a decade ago. Next someone will recommend http://del.icio.us (-:.

http://del.icio.us got bought by
@Pinboard, which is where I store my backup brain. :)1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
Pinboard is really interesting. But this is only for bookmarks, right? I guess I could cross-link with local documents, though I've started using Zotero lately, and connecting papers (w/ Zotero's internal naming scheme) seems at least mildly annoying (+ two archiving systems).

Yep. For me, Pinboard’s for syllabus stuff and randomness, Zotero’s for stuff I might have to cite. My Pinboard’s WAY huger than my Zotero, ‘cos I don’t publish all that much but the areas I teach in change constantly.

I'm going to be doing a lot of development work on the site in January, so I'm eager to hear ideas for how to make the site more useful / defeat Zotero entirely

I reeeeeeeeally doubt you want to enter the circle of hell that is citation styles. Ugh. I HATE them (and I’m a librarian, so that’s next door to blasphemy). Only thing I can think of is that filter-by-tag can mean pages load slow.

Oh, and some way to combine tag-filter with search would be amazing. A few of my tags (e.g. “surveillance”) are populated enough to need the search.

Aaaaaaaaaand I’m being a jerk today, so one more thing: new-bookmarks-to-Twitter pipeline, filterable by tag. Yes, there’s RSS, but what IFTTT et al. are charging these days is ridiculous.

What does IFTTT charge these days? I'm out of the loop

Actually IFTTT isn’t the worst; $4/mo, which isn’t bad and I might even spring for it. Zapier and http://dlvr.it have gone Full Enterprise, however. Zapier’s bottom tier is $20/mo, http://dlvr.it ’s $9/mo (and I’d swear it used to be more).

You don't want to be telling a greedy site like me that $4/month is reasonable FYI
