I get it, three coups before breakfast and another for lunch. But I bet you the formal Electoral College vote on Monday goes on unimpeded and without a fuss, and on through the swearing in and so on

You have a very weird definition of "without a fuss."

The fuss here is political theater targeted at a specific audience. When I go to see a play and someone gets shot in Act IV, my decision about whether to call 911 is going to depend very heavily about whether it takes place on stage or out in the audience.

You’re right that that’s the most likely scenario. But what do you suppose the near- and long-term effects are to the silent acquiescence of these efforts and this language? You are unconcerned? Seems a pathway laid down for a more competent fascist later

I am concerned about losing elections outright, not about having them stolen. Zeynep's argument about a more competent authoritarian doing this right in the future presupposes that they won't just win all the power they want at the ballot box, which I believe more likely.

I'm not claiming a Zen-like personal calm, or trying to police anyone's anxieties. I didn't have kids precisely so I wouldn't have to explain shit like this to them!
