Right. Blockchains are really good for notarizing information that nobody cares about ex ante but that might unpredictably become important ex post. Like initial precinct postings in less watched elections. Internal votes of private organizations. Stuff like that.

The social problem with blockchains for this is that they're really sleazy. You can get the same result without the baggage as long as there's a trusted third party (or a few) you can turn to
