I think it's underappreciated that the Congressional candidate running in Omaha, Kara Eastman, is one of the worst Federal candidates we're fielding in any competitive district, about six miles to the left of voters. What a missed opportunity in Nebraskahttps://www.thenation.com/article/politics/kara-eastman-sasse-election/ …

Haven't you regularly complained that the left doesn't try to win competitive races, and focuses on safe seats? It's fine to prefer Galvin's politics to Eastman's, but it's frustrating that you present it as political strategy.

I think the way to win competitive races is to run candidates who appeal to voters in those districts. Eastman is a social worker with strongly progressive views running in a district where such a candidate is a bad fit.

But if you think that running left candidates in competitive districts is bad, why complain that the left is only running candidates in safe districts (which you've done plenty of times)?

My complaint is that the left is not serious about learning to win in competitive districts. Politics is very much about identity, and part of being competitive means being serious about running candidates whose life story and language connect with the mores of their district

Part of my irritation here is that I think someone with Eastman's exact same policy views could run and win here if they didn't act and sound like NPR incarnate
