This is like saying "I can't believe people hate kid Pharaoh but want him to make non-collapsing pyramids. Make up your minds!"https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1316047658281304064 …

I continue to find it completely bizarre and baffling that, on the one hand, most people hate Facebook and regard Zuckerberg as amoral at best, but on the other, not just trust in him to be the supreme overlord regulating our discourse, but are begging him to do that.

A non-collapsing pyramid is a clear and unambiguous goal. Content-moderation is intrinsically full of hard cases and would either be woefully inadequate or result in abuses if done by saints.

I'm not saying your position is obviously wrong, but you have to accept that the more moderation they do, the more they will end up censoring people you think they shouldn't. It's reliably happened to every platform that does any kind of moderation.

I'm not a fan of moderation by fiat on monopoly websites either. But it's in place already—an unmoderated Facebook would turn into a house of horrors. I'm arguing that it's consistent to ask for it to be done better while also trying to dismantle the monopoly control.

Sure, and I’m not an absolutist. I think platforms should, at a minimum, not let people threaten to kill each other. However, “better” could mean “more consistent”, but it could also just mean “more”.

I think a lot of people are calling for more moderation, in areas that are much less clear cut, and much more likely to result in casualties among non-mainstream political groups.
