I am curious why it has been singled out so, what other conspiracies are blocked on FB & Twitter? But it seems obviously bad and if the media giants are going to start acting like they are responsible for spreading harmful bullshit I'm in favor of it.

It is a form of (manipulated) mass psychosis- very dangerous to democracy, society and economy. If you can at least dampen it down by the simple act of switching off (some) of its “oxygen of publicity”, that’s a laudable and necessary act.

Not sure about moral panic but my wife keeps having to unfriend peeps on FB bc they have been pushing Q stuff. These were formerly moderate Republicans.
