I'm confused at the US political system's focus on fundraising. There's lots of "raise $$$ for this candidate", but I don't understand what then happens to that money. Do they just give it all to Facebook?

Wait, that's are 50k-300k voters who are undecided about voting, not 50k-300k total voters *overall*, right? Or is voter turnout waaaay lower than I had previously thought? (Also thank you for explaining this!)

No, that's overall. A congressional district has 710K or so people in it and something like half of them will vote (in a presidential year).
