I gave like $6k to causes before the news and another $1.2k last night. I’d guess the vast majority of the donors are repeat donors reaching deeper into their pockets

For me, it’s because there’s not a clear definition of “everything.” We gave what we budgeted, and then talked ourselves into dipping further into savings for various reasons.
