I'm going to repost this now since there is a tsunami of anguished political giving in honor of Justice Ginsburg. You don't have to give to any of the candidates I fundraise for, but take a moment to think and plan so that your donation is truly effective https://idlewords.com/2020/09/effective_political_giving.htm …

A useful way to think of it: is giving to candidate X going to mean they can spend every working minute between now and November 3 campaigning, instead of on the phone fundraising? Or will it just get put on top of an existing mountain of cash, or handed straight to Facebook?

If you can't think of a good outlet for political donations right now, put it aside (while the giving impulse is strong!) for when you do find a cause or candidate that it can benefit. No one was less of a stranger to the long game than Justice Ginsburg, so it's quite appropriate
