Speaking seriously though, one thing I'm proud of and that distinguishes the State Slate/Great Slate from most other efforts I know of to fundraise from the tech community is that we do it openly and in full public view here on Twitter

Every donation is also publicly disclosed and a matter of public record. There is an infinite shady universe out there of indirect, undisclosed donation pathways I am shielding you from (like giving to state committees or grifty super PACs). I think it's important to be open

I've also never talked with anyone in the national Democratic Party about politics or fundraising, but I do regret to say that as of summer 2020, most of our decisions take place in a smoke-filled room.

One final bit of data—though we've been able to raise $30K per candidate on the State Slate, 7/8 of our Florida campaigns have still raised less than their Republican opponent, and most are outraised a factor of 2 or more. State house races are badly underfunded nationally.
