I've said many times that the greatest progressive force for urbanism, regional development, housing, and wealth redistribution in California is the San Andreas Fault, and I hope it takes the hint from the other 2020 drama and gets its act together

Government at the federal level is so thoroughly broken that in the long term, I think the relationships between the states and the federal government have to fundamentally change. Maybe interstate mutual aid pacts are the way forward; networks over hierarchies?

Hierarchies can be really efficient - and fundamentally unjust. Seeing the damage that the Trump administration has been able to inflict is increasing my distrust of any form of centralized power.
