It's not "now or never" with climate, it's "it was a while ago or never". Is there anyone who talks about this honestly while not being a nihilist or contrarian-for-contrarian's sake? I'm looking for language that encourages action while not misleading people about timescales

My specific issue with telling people "it's a climate emergency" is that it's like telling a 1200 pound person they're in an obesity emergency. It's not wrong, but it's not exactly helpful either

There is something you can do. It is an emergency. It is not dishonest. Let’s move forward with urgency, advocate for sweeping policy and personal changes, and invest in research that — at this very moment — is trying to help our planet.

Do you often see politicians say «emergency» in situations where the best moment to act has not already passed & the first positive impact is not far away? I would argue it IS the right term, because in political context, we have come to associate it with exactly this situation.
