I've done the election day door knocking myself and know it can be intensely gratifying. I remember driving a 90+ year old lady to the polls and how good that made me feel. But I had some personal experiences too that made me skeptical of how much we fetishize this activity

Totally agree. It makes sense in certain areas, and little sense elsewhere. At least it is better than phone banking.

My idea of door-knocking nirvana is when it's done on election day by experienced neighbors in a densely-populated district in support of a highly mobilizing ballot initiative. But we work with the materials we have!
