I'd like to push back against this. Most of the orgs i work with are desperate for more volunteers, even one-time volunteers would help. And they have a real impact. pretty much all of our local mutual aid orgs, which are usually more like collectives than nonprofits and most don't have paid staff anyway. jail support, tenants unions, food distribution orgs, etc. there's a lot of simple but time consuming tasks that newbies can do

for example, our tenant union has to do a lot of flyering to get info out to the dozens of apartment complexes that are at highest risk for eviction. that takes time but is easy. our jail support needs people to sit on the phone lines and intake people. easy but time consuming
