Google's Project Dragonfly the counterexample here surely. This also ignores some brave organizing at Google around

that got people fired. (The wrong people.)

I'll leave Dragonfly without comment. But the people getting fired with no other employees going to bat for them was one of the biggest organizing disappointments at Google. It showed that management could fire with impunity and colleagues would not stand up for their own.
