People who've been following along know about the Great Slate, our fundraising effort to help win the Senate by giving money to key rural House campaigns in competitive states. It's an indirect strategy based on the premise that Senate campaigns can't usefully absorb more money.

So far in 2020 we've raised $945K for 4 great candidates in Maine, Alaska, Colorado, and Iowa, each of them targeting a base of voters who could make the difference for the close Senate campaign in their state. But people kept asking me a question I didn't have a good answer to

Since we were fundraising for two amazing women in independent-minded Western states,
@RepDMB in Colorado and@AlyseGalvin in Alaska, why weren't we also supporting@WilliamsForMT, another excellent candidate making a serious run for office in a highly winnable Senate state?1 reply 3 retweets 7 likesShow this thread -
The answer I came up with is, we should absolutely be helping Kathleen Williams win in Montana! While we think of it as a red state, they have a history of electing good Democrats. They last did it in the 2018 senate race, and in 2020, we could win both the House and Senate racespic.twitter.com/mpyuzIhNIm

So it gives me great pleasure to welcome
@WilliamsForMT to the Great Slate! Some of you may remember her as the candidate who almost won in 2018 against Greg Gianforte, the thug who body-slammed a reporter https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/happened-republican-greg-gianforte-body-slammed-reporter/story …1 reply 6 retweets 19 likesShow this thread -
If you work at Google, I'd especially urge you to donate to Kathleen Williams, to expiate the fact that your employer gave money to Gianforte after his unconscionable attack on a journalist.pic.twitter.com/RDAWLEkjlw
