The situation in a nutshell is this: we need to win 6 seats in NC and 14 seats in FL to get a state house majority. Both goals are achievable this year! At stake is Medicaid expansion—free Federal money for health care Republicans in both legislatures have refused to accept

Also at stake is post-2020 census redistricting (which affects us all) and the national Presidential campaign. In a year when most people will vote by mail, local state races can play a unique role in driving turnout and making sure those ballots are sent in. But they need money!

In Florida in particular, Democrats have been at a 5:1—6:1 fundraising disadvantage at the state level, even as national campaigns break records. One of our candidates lost his 2018 bid for the same seat by 32 VOTES. These are winnable races if we fund people at parity

In North Carolina, the situation is even more interesting. Many of the districts have been redrawn more favorably by court order. Many also contain large numbers of "untapped" voters—registered voters who didn't vote in 2018, but skew heavily Democratic, often black rural voters.

A pandemic year, for all its misery, offers a unique opportunity to reach these voters because voting will take place over weeks, not just one day. But again, it takes money. So please give generously to Round 3 of our State Slate, and tell your friends!https://secure.actblue.com/donate/state_slate_3 …

(a small programming note. One of our candidates, Maureen Porras, is not yet on the donation form. We are reaching out to her campaign to make sure she gets set up on ActBlue as quickly as possible)
