There is great racial disparity in how U.S. police treat white and non-white protest (as Jackson State again shows). I'm hopeful that in my lifetime, we'll make that disappear. But using American protests against police violence to justify repression is the height of perversity

It was pretty clear from listening to the speeches at CHOP on the first night that the poc who were trying to lead were legitimately worried about state violence being used against them and the white antifa crowd were not worried at all about escalation past tear-gassing.
