The correct tactic is to go home, let them get bored and let the vicious infighting do the work. There's no shield that protects against that. The Portland police's failure to weaponize boredom is weirdhttps://twitter.com/JoshuaPotash/status/1291962889323020288 …

Wow. The cops have no idea what to do about the organized shield wall in Portland tonight. pic.twitter.com/fRbbnLWWAe

People who have been following the Portland protests, what are the current demands? What are the direct action protesters saying they want?

I am very impressed that you’ve pivoted from “why aren’t people in the US in the streets? Sanders doesn’t get it!” to “why are people in the streets?” This is especially baffling coming from somebody who has spent the last year plus endlessly celebrating the Hong Kong protests

I'm here asking what's up in Portland! I don't know how I feel about the protests since I don't know what's going on up there.

You followed up this tweet with a dig about Portland activists’ work ethic so yeah I don’t think I am out of line in doubting your sincerity here. Never mind that police abolition is the overarching demand of these ongoing protesters nationally—the ones that come back every day

I had a pretty awful experience personally organizing in Portland, so I'm going to joke about that. I can't prevent you from doubting my sincerity, but if you can hold back on the dunks for a moment or two I bet we'll both have a better time on here.

Not even trying to dunk. I’m just somebody who has engaged in good faith with you about the political horizons of this period in American history and gotten pithy responses about how Americans don’t protest enough. So these tweets about Portland protestors were pretty frustrating

All I can tell you is I'm not ragging on Portland protesters! And no one was more shocked or amazed than me to finally see nationwide street protests happen in the US.

Yeah and all I can say is it was a lot less shocking to those of us who were protesting on Trump’s Inauguration Day (not the women’s march the day after) or during the BLM uprisings of 2014 or during Occupy!
