How does the human head deal with a 10 mph impact with pavement?

So we need running helmets now?

Let's put it this way: humans evolved to catch themselves from falling while running and walking. Not from an elevated seated position with both hands and feet occupied. Also, the lack of a restraint attaching you to the bike means if the bike stops, you may not stop. Inertia.

Firstly a bike hasn’t ‘elevated’ head height since the invention of the safety cycle. Secondly how does 10mph inertia differ from someone running? However, congratulations on bringing a new angle of strange homespun made up science to the debate.

I did not say "head height" did I? Please familiarize yourself with Newton's laws of motion and get back to me.

You seem a bit confused. We are talking about persons at the same velocity (10mph) falling down from the same height yet think you’ve clinched the argument by mentioning Newton’s laws?

Tbf, Michigan got rid of their motorcycle helmet law and they saw a huge increase in hospitalizations. Not from accidents, just from old people tipping over and giving themselves closed head injuries.
