So a question for Pinboard users especially. How big should I let an archiving account (or a regular account, for that matter) get before I start to cut people off? I'm talking in terms of bookmarks and terabytes stored. What's a generous allowance for both in your eyes?
No, I really don't. I know what I pay for servers and hard drives (which are rare purchases), and monthly colocation fees, but not really sure how to derive a per-byte cost from that.

I mean you know the costs of the disks themselves, right? Do you have an expected lifetime you amortize that fixed cost over the lifetime especially for back ups and remote sites etc.

There’s some cost for the physical space, you wouldn’t be using as much rack area with less disks.
