The way this mechanism works is that the national party agrees to help to some degree, but in exchange they require budgetary control, a certain kind of fundraising, and a certain kind of campaigning. It's one reason all Democratic candidates sound and act so much alike

Scholten is one of the most prominent Federal candidates running on an explicitly anti-monopoly platform, and that ultimately is not reconcilable with a national Democratic party that long ago made itself comfortable with its many corporate partners.
