To get your donations matched dollar for dollar up to that limit, DM me or post receipts to this thread. We're more than halfway to our goal of getting $20K into the coffers each campaign (about a third of a frugal budget for a rural state house race)!https://secure.actblue.com/donate/state_slate_2 …

$1,550 of these matching funds are left for our eleven candidates in Iowa and Arizona. Think of what a Rockefeller you'll feel like when you donate N dollars to the State Slate, and yet the candidates receive $2N https://secure.actblue.com/donate/state_slate_2 …pic.twitter.com/AsZ6gNetqv

I realize I'm asking a lot of followers with the steady fundraising talk. But the reasoning is simple: we have an opportunity this year to win in districts we could never dream of winning in a "normal" year. Let's not waste any of those opportunities by neglecting to pursue them!

A narrow victory over Trump would be great. A total rout, from the national to the state and local level, might just be enough to reboot the Republican party, and force it to purge itself of the neofascist extremists that have taken it over. This would be the best end to 2020.

If I badger you to give to state candidates this year, it's because these elections are within our grasp right now, but it does take some money to contest them, and the people running are schoolteachers who don't have it. Give them your nerdly money today:https://secure.actblue.com/donate/state_slate_2 …

Remember when Bernie and Buttigieg and Warren all went into Iowa making a big show of registering minority voters for the caucuses? We were all inspired by the outreach, but how many of those voter lists do you think got into the hands of local candidates who could use them now?

The answer of course is zero. National politics in the US is an extractive industry, and there is no thought given to helping candidates down the ticket even in states like Iowa, where the state house is four seats away from a Democratic majority. It's short-sighted and foolish.

We've got all these competitive Senate races where we should be chasing every vote, but instead of coordinating with downticket Democratic campaigns, the party charges them $1,200 or more just to get the basic voter file. We can complain about this or we can do something to help

One of our candidates on the State Slate, Sara Huddleston, increased Democratic voter registrations by 10% in her state house district last time she ran, because of effective outreach to the large Latino community in northwest Iowa. On her own this pandemic year she's raised $14K

If we have people downballot who can expand the electorate by ten percent—an enormous amount—why aren't we just relieving them of fundraising pressure so they can do what they're good at? The same holds for
@scholten4iowa, who got 24K more votes than there are Democrats in IA-4.Show this thread -
We can really, really swing for the fences this year, but we have to give people a bat. That's my pitch (ha, ha) for why you should give political money to the State Slate and the four House races on the Great Slate, while it is still maximally useful to the candidates right now.

Down to just $320 left in matching funds for the State Slate tonight! And we are more than halfway to our fundraising goal for this group of 11 hardworking people. Trust in democracy but help pay for lawn signs.https://secure.actblue.com/donate/state_slate_2 …
