I'm a professional computer programmer, my girlfriend made me a nice playlist for a road trip, and I'm now 45 minutes into a journey called "try to get this folder of music onto my iphone. So far I've had to use 10 separate pieces of Apple software, and lost half my saved music.

Only apple would make an error message that says "you can play and download music on all your devices" to tell you that you can't actually play or download music on any of your devices

My crime, gentle tweeter? I use two Apple laptops and sometimes sync stuff onto the phone, sometimes from another.

In my experience regular people just use Spotify, and have given up (or stopped caring?) about "owning" music. Sadly.

I have a real fun one: I have Apple Music (the monthly streaming thing) and I’ve also bought music in iTunes. There’s overlap between those services, most songs are in both. For some reason my Apple TV can’t access my iTunes purchases? But it can play Apple Music
-
This has the absolutely stunning result that I can play all music on Apple Music on my TV *except* the music I’ve bought
