To my knowledge, you can't apply for a U.S. passport without going to submit the documents in person at an acceptance facility (and right now, you really can't get a passport at all). County election staff came to our high school before graduation and held a voter registration drive for graduating seniors. It was very convenient. (We could register at 17 as long as we were 18 by the time the election rolled around.)

iirc in my high school ap gov class (senior year), we registered to vote. it was probably after we took the ap exam.
