If you want an example of the kind of fantasy world of blog discourse this post imagines, a better example is the universe of science, math, and topic-specific blogs. The idea that I can go read Not Even Wrong or Terry Tao's blog or the diary of some luthier is just wonderful

I think there's a lot to be said for self-publishing and writing in longer formats than tweets or threads. I wish we made it easier for people and I wish the idea of the web outside of social media as something you can contribute to, not just consume, would come back.
