Now try the rural health care!
Maine (the place Matt is visiting) has Medicaid expansion. It doesn't do anything to put doctors in rural areas.

I took this whole conversation as about rural conditions in general, not just wiring Matt for broadband to his Maine retreat. My understanding is that hospitals that serve rural areas in non-expansion states have closed much more often than counterparts in expansion states.

You are right, but we're talking about two slightly different things. Hospitals that serve rural areas are still concentrating in towns and cities, and all you find out in the sticks and small towns is bad urgent care clinics, the health care equivalent of Family Dollar.
