There's this weird collective decision in the media to pretend that covid deaths are now rising when they have been steadily decreasing since May.https://twitter.com/joshtpm/status/1280193910770368512 …
What is confusing about saying "don't tell people fatalities are going up when they are going down"? Not telling people the truth, even if it's for their own good, or because you're convinced you'll be vindicated in a few days' time, will make it harder to fight the pandemic

The article says nothing of the sort. It points out that hundreds of people are dying every day and may continue to do so for some time — a complaint that is perfectly reasonable in sane times — and you’re distorting it in order to try to make it claim something it doesn’t.

Seriously, COVID is scary. I get it. But this isn’t a good look on either the letter of the argument or the spirit. Things are objectively bad right now and almost certain to get worse.pic.twitter.com/gIOQfQIrzU

He said deaths are rising, which is true. The death *rate* is falling, deaths are rising. You may not like the phrasing, but fatalities are not going down.

Exactly. If you’re going to play Twitter lawyer, it’s important to have the facts on your side. If you’re going to play COVID denialist, there are good fora for that on Reddit.

US is not a homogenous place so while nationally death rate may be decreasing, it is probably going up locally in many places.

Why is it always "well actually, death rate is going down!"? There are plenty of other life changing effects, from contracting COVID, worth worrying about. Contraction is bad, period.
