"Outlasted" in the same sense that I can enter a marathon, stand around going nowhere for eight hours, give up, and then say I "outlasted" all the other runners.

This isn't really a fair analogy. She was not a fringe candidate running a vanity campaign, but a second or third-tier one who was not obviously less qualified than someone like, say, Buttigieg to catch a break and get into the front rank of contenders.

“Outlasted.” She has none of the political power or clout that any of those people have. She’s a celebrity. Celebrities attract a certain amount of attention.
