I got my first haircut today since the pandemic started and it feels amazing. Downtown Kyoto is once again packed with people, and the only way you can tell that things are not quite normal here is a high level of mask use and the total absence of foreign tourists

We all read the news of the world, but I find it almost impossible not to have my beliefs about the pandemic colored by what I see around me day to day. I wonder if I'd have a whole different set of opinions if I was living in London or Cairo

Also I live right near the epidemic temple in Kyoto and I spent a huge amount of money the past two months on propitiation, which clearly worked.

I totally get this. I’m in Taipei and I feel as if the pandemic is practically a foreign news story, affecting my day-to-day life mostly in indirect ways

It may color your views, but it makes it all the more interesting to read when your views are themselves colored differently.

I live in Lombardy, my wife and sister works in the hospital, my mum was hospitalised (and luckily recovering). I'm still afraid of what the virus has done here and still dream of the terrific amount of ambulance sirens I heard last 3 months.

But I totally get Italians that live in less struck regions that feel that now it's time to go back to a resemblance of normality, also have a dear friend living in Tokyo that told us he never felt the anxiety we felt here.

My own perception is colored by the fact that I can walk to a beach in five minutes. Only the parking has ever been closed. I’m curious why people think this lockdown is so fierce and strict. We are closing streets so people can bike, walk, and play—and they do. SF seems fine?
