Note that there's a lot of incoherence in the explanations we hear for Africa. E.g., "how dare you assume that small, poor countries can't be better at wide-scale public health measures than Europe, oh and also they are all undercounting cases by many orders of magnitude."

Another favorite explanation I hear is "poor countries have handled coronavirus better because they have recent experience of epidemic disease", which is like arguing that someone is good at crime prevention because they get mugged a lot

Hoping that future journalism schools will offer topics like "paying more attention when a global pandemic mostly skips the two most populous continents"

Normal body mass, antimalarial drugs, innoculations boosting immune system, fresh air (lack of HVAC systems), lack of travelers from China? Why is it so surprising?

Africa doesn't have a lot of travelers from China??

The median age in Africa is under 20 y.o. The IFR below 20, from the largest detailed study we have so far: Spain, gives an IFR around 0.003%. Isn't it reasonable to think the spread is also low (less severity ~ less viral shedding)? We don't have an R0 for each age class, alas.
