I'm fascinated with the ways computer tools can homogenize entire art forms. Three quick examples: - quantized drum parts in popular music - the "orange and teal" phenomenon in movies - high dynamic range photography What are your own favorite examples of computers eating art?pic.twitter.com/ehGYzcrWP6

(If you're not familiar with quantized drumming, here's a very grumpy Rick Beato explaining it in Pro Tools) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFaRIW-wZlw …)

Autotune, which ended the era of the frumpy-looking pop star and then came full circle and started being used essentially as an instrument itself.

And even aside from autotune, you could probably make a solid case that there’s a hard line in pop music from before and after ProTools/Logic. A “professional” sound, formerly the output of a few producers in expensive studios, is now mostly a button press.

Cel shading used to be a hand drawn art form and now can be done in real time with a gfx shader. Even 2d comics are now sometimes using 3d game engines.

but it's okay to use them in unpopular music, right? I use multiband compression quite a bit, and my music is really, really unpopular.

Orange and blue are complimentary colors. Like yellow/purple and green/red, artists have used them for a long time to create contrast.
