I agree that Japan's results are impressive. Seoul is also a very dense megacity. According to Citymapper, Seoul public transit is still running at 42% of normal ridership while Tokyo is down to 7%. The early testing & contact tracing seems like an important factor.
I use Japan as an example not to dunk on Korea, but because they did very little, and did it very late, and still got a wonderful outcome. It flies in the face of the moralizing story that prompt, effective policies are what separates good countries from bad in this fight.
Considering the population of Japan is 126 million and the median age is 44, there’s no way that 125 million people here are elderly. May want to check your numbers.

It's cause Protestants don't respect the elderly. They view anyone who can't "contribute to the economy" as worthless. Asia, had some humanity in this regard
