Can we please stop accepting the bogus framing that eradicating the pandemic can only happen at the expense of economic prosperity? No. It doesn't matter which you value more; they're in alignment, not opposition. Sustainably restarting the economy requires stopping the pandemic.

What if we can't? That would certainly suck. The longer it goes on, the worse for the economy and for public health.

Testing, contact-tracing, isolation services and so forth could become a viable employment option and industry in a Keynesian sense, at the same time as allowing more of the rest of the prior economy to resume. It's a false dichotomy to make it either/or.
